Nick walks in, ready for more organization. "Hullo. Looking for something?"

"Hullo," and he smiles warmly, "I am, actually... a book... it used to be over hereish..." he waves vaguely in the direction of the top of the book shelf.

"What alphabet was it in? I can't read half the titles, so that's how I organized them." He smiles back.

Oh now there's a good question, "I... don't remember." He deflates a little.

"Bugger. You can't remember at all?" He starts pointing out which shelf has which alphabet on it.

"If I saw it, I'd know if it was the right thing or not... I know, I know, that's not very helpful." He stares at the books hopefully.

"Not at all." He goes over to one of the remaining piles of books and starts sorting.

He pulls off several books and looks at them, but instead of putting them back, he drops them on the floor absently. "Nnngg..."

Nick makes a slightly irritated noise.

He doesn't notice, intent on the books. A few more end up on the floor and one ends up on the couch. He finds one book that looks likely, and starts to page through it, pacing, but that one isn't right either. It ends up on the knight's armor.

Nick makes a more irritated noise and starts picking up the books Alexander drops.

And Alexander completely misses it, again. He's studying two books now. One goes back on the wrong shelf the other gets picked up and walked around the room for a minute, the pages getting flipped before getting dropped on the other couch.

"If you don't stop that, I am going to hit you with one of the books you've dropped." Nick goes on reshelving.

That gets his attention. "I'm sorry? What?" he looks confused.

"You're dropping books everywhere and I've spent hours organizing them." Nick shelves a few more, pointedly.

This is new information for Alexander, "I have been? Really?" And that probably explains half the mess in the house.

"Yes." Nick gives him the look of one whose patience has been terribly, sorely tried.

He blinks, processing this information. "Well... that wasn't very nice of me."

"No. It wasn't. Could you please try to stop?"

Now there's a problem. He could promise to try to stop, but he'd probably forget again after a few minutes. "I... well..." he flounders.

Ooh, capital L Look coming from Nick. "Just try. And if you don't, I'll throw every object I have to pick up at you."

"I'll be very bruised if you do that," he says trying for a pout. He knows his messy tendencies, most of it is complete and utter absentmindedness.

"Yes, but I'm sure you'll learn eventually."

"Well... I suppose... eventually. But wouldn't throwing things at me also create a mess?"

"I'd feel less irritated about cleaning it up afterwards."
