Alexander hobbled as fast as he could into the house before slamming the door shut. He then proceeded to put the house into lockdown, shutting off every available exit and entrance and revoking anyone's right to just pop in and visit. Even Mel's. The house was completely cut off from the rest of the multiverse and it would remain so until he reopened. Which wouldn't be for a while, if he had anything to say about it.

Panting he slumped against the door, leaning his head back and moaning slightly. He felt horrible. Half himself. Caught and trapped. And it was all that stupid Sue's fault. He tugged uselessly at the pendent around his neck. "Oh gods... oh gods... I can handle this. Yes... where's Nick?" He staggered up, "Nick? NICK!" he bellowed out, hoping that the boy wasn't on the other side of the door. Hoping that he had come home already.

Limping, he started to the bedroom where he hoped that Nick was.

"Knowing the Nexus, most likely." It's not a yes. But it's the closest he'll give. He's not going to lie to Nick.

"But she might not have? She would have, right?" Nick's practically desperate.

"I..honestly don't know," he says, looking at Nick sadly.

"Oh." Nick blinks slowly, and then turns away from Alexander and throws up.

Alexander leaned against the wall, tipping his head back, feeling horrible. Down right disgustingly horrible. Like scum, horrible. "I'm sorry, Nick."

"No. I wanted to. She was just a girl." Nick stumbles up and towards the bathroom again.

He'll clean up the mess later, when Nick is tucked into bed, safe and sound. "I shouldn't have put you in that position." Alexander said, following him.

He shakes his head. "It's not your fault. How could I want to do that? I'm not a monster, am I, Alexander? I wanted to do worse, I wanted to let her die slowly but she was just lying there and I couldn't and..."

Nick shudders violently.

Alexander pulls him into his arms, holding him tight and close. "No, love, you're not a monster. You're not. A monster wouldn't feel like you do now."

Nick clings tightly, not entirely reassured.

He lets him cling, holding him tightly, in a hard grip. "It's my fault. I should have called you off."

Nick shakes his head. "Not your fault. I saw she was different."

"But I still told you to go," he sighs. "We're going to go around in circles on this issue."

Quietly. Very quietly. "I think I would have done it anyways."

He pulls away. "Need that bath. I feel filthy."

Alexander doesn't say anything. He just leads Nick to the bath. He starts the water for him, filling up the tub, letting Nick get undressed.

Nick strips and gets in quickly, grabbing the cloth and soap and scrubbing vigourously. He's not likely to stop until he starts bleeding.

He strips out of his own bloody clothes and then picks up Nick's. "I'm going to go burn these."

"Please." Nick keeps scrubbing.

Taking the clothes, he goes out... somewhere... to burn them. He comes back in a few minutes and sits on the edge of the tub. The pendent is there, resting on his chest.

Nick pauses. "...you're still bound."

Alexander fingers the pendent. "I am... I guess, so."

Nick slides down in the water, resuming the scrubbing. Parts of him are starting to go raw, especially his hands.

He watches this and then plucks the washcloth from his hand. "Nick... you're rubbing yourself raw."

He shudders. "I don't care."

"It's not going to help. Trust me, it's not going to help."
