Alexander is waiting for Mel in the main room of his house. He seems to be bitter and irritable, but is trying to put on a good face for her, after all, she's not the root of his problems.

Mel nods. "Okay. Will it feel funny if I try to use them and it's on?" she fidgets. Sisu is on her lap, being petted.

"What it should do is dampen your powers. It'll feel like you've used them, but nothing happens." He puts a spool of thread, a koosh ball and a small potted plant on the table in front of her.

He then sits opposite of her and puts together a device that looks like it might have once been a CAD from the PPC.

"Oh, okay." That would feel... weird. She fidgets. "How long's it going to take to make it? Am I going to have to wear it or whatever?" More fidgeting. Pardon her, she's just neurotic today.

"It'll be something that you can put in your room and turn on and off as you like. I don't know how long it'll take me to make it... there'll be some trial and error as I get it specified to you. I may need you to come back once or twice, to try it on."

He gets a triumphant look on his face and bangs the CAD which then beeps and turns on. "There we go."

Mel nods, and bites her lip. "Okay. So not like a bracelet or whatever?" Well. She was kinda hoping it'd be like that- she could go places without worrying about spazzing and turning things into something weird.

"No, not at all." Alexander wouldn't approve of that. The best way to avoid spazzing and abusing power was to learn how to control it, not have something dampen it.

He pushes some buttons on the CAD and sets it on the table. "Okay, I need for you to use your powers on those objects in front of you. In three different ways."

Mel nods. She looks at the objects, and concentrate.

The koosh ball changes color. The spool of thread grows, after a long second of concentrating. The plant turns into a small chicken. She's sweating and a bit dizzy after this, but she's done what he said.

"Interesting... interesting..." he tsks with his tongue. "D'you find yourself more able to use your powers when you do it unconsciously - I mean can you do more with less effort?"

Mel blinks. "Um... Do mean like when I'm sleeping?"

"Yes, like when you're sleeping."

"I guess. It's easier to do when I'm feeling strong emotions... But I still feel kinda tired after it." she picks at a scab on her hand.

He absently swipes at the hand picking at the scab. "Don't do that. Do you wake up exhausted after having done something major in your sleep?"

She jumps when he swipes at her. "S-sorry. Um. Yeah. I do. Not exhausted, but... Still tired."

"Hrm... so it may not completely be personal barriers that keep you from using your powers to their full potential. Just... that they haven't fully developed yet. All right. I can work with that."

Mel blinks. "Huh?"

"I had two theories to your powers. One was that you had created a mental block that prevented you from fully accessing them without effort and the other was that you haven't grown into them yet and they'll get stronger as you get older. This is important as to how I would build the device, as I need to know how much power I was going to be dampening."

"Maybe it's a bit of both." She's a bit surprised that he actually had theories about her powers. "... So which theory are you going with?"

He has theories for everything. "Right now, I'm going with the non-developed power theory."
