[Open] in the workshop.

The workshop was kept fastidiously neat. More so than the rest of the rooms in his house. It was the cleanest and most organized room in the house. Despite his packrat tendencies, he knew that a clean workshop was a safe and productive one. It was both a mundane and magical workshop, letting him work on simple wood carvings or the delicate intracies of a universe in the same room.

He sat, half dressed and hair tied back, on a wooden stool setting up a stasis field of some sort over a work bench. On the bench was a sliver of shiny silvery blue metal. A shard of a sword he had picked up in the Nexus. The shard had tried to turn him good, then evil, then young, then sane, then insane, but as he was not always totally good, nor totally evil but completely and utterly irrivokably nuetral that it couldn't do anything to him. As for his age, his shape was of his own choosing and he could chose a younger form if he so wished. Sanity came and went as it pleased, no sword fragment was going to change that. That was not what caught his interest though.

No, today, Alexander was interested in trying to reconstruct the sword using the shard as a base pattern and try and weave out what had been into what would be. It was easy enough, really, it just took a lot of fine tunning and delicate work.

THe stasis field was set, rotating slowly. Picking up the shard in a pair of tweezers he set it into the field. It shimmered for a moment and then glowed a steady blue. He picked up another instrument from the work bench, a thin piece of wire, He pushed the wire into the field and drew it out from the shard several times creating a thin spidery web. Still using the wire he poked a few holes in the web into another deminsion.

Satisfied, he leaned back and watched it for a moment, before scooting his stool over to another work bench. This one empty. He stared at it for a long moment before waving his hand over it. A thin three demensional network of interconnecting lines appeared before him. He studyied it for a long moment before murmurring, "If I was a soul shard... where would I be?"

Alexander follows him, keeping a few paces behind. The doorway shimmers and then vanishes like it was never there. He lets Nick take the lead as this is his world and everything.

Nick walks up the hill, calling out. "Hedge! Hedge!"

The man whirls and heads down the hill towards them at a good clip- as he gets closer, he's visibly bald, and a bandolier of bells is strapped across his chest. "Master Nicholas! Where have you been? No one saw you leave the camp, but you've been gone for hours."

Greatly enjoying his full head of long hair, Alexander causes a slight breeze to kick up, causing his cloak to flap back revealing his sword and making him look rather dramatic. He doesn't give off any sense of power and instead looks rather like a weather worn swordsman.

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hedge eyes him. "Who's this? What's he doing here? Master, don't you think you should lie down? You look tired."

He's obviously weaving some sort of spell- to more sensitive people than Nick, the metallic, burning stench of Free Magic is rising.

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I found him wandering lost and have brought him home. I've become quite concerned for his well being," he says, senses perking up at the tang of magic, but he still doesn't react.

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Nick yawns widely and turns to go back to his tent while Hedge eyes Alexander.

"And your name is?"

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Here, Alexander puts a restraining hand on Nick's shoulder. He's not going to let the boy run off on him now.

"Alexander Troven. A wanderer."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, you've found our wanderer, so perhaps it's time you left." Hedge's tone is menacing.

Nick nods, his voice dazed. "Yes, I should get some rest..."

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Alexander is unpeturbed and unruffled. He keeps his grip on Nick. "You aren't going anywhere my deulsional one." Then he turns to Hedge. "You on the other hand have something of mine."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
"But Alexander, I'm tired..." Nick's eyes droop.

Hedge raises an eyebrow. "And what would that be?"

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ah-hah! So that's what the spell this Master Hedge was casting. It took a slight shift in reality to cut it off, but not let Hedge know that it had been cut off. "One moment more, please," he begged Nick. To Hedge he turned a cold gaze onto. "A stone on a leather thong. Blue and warm."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Hedge raised the other eyebrow to match. "That was yours? How fascinating."

Nick stifles a yawn.

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, it was mine. I gave it to Master Sayre here and I was rather upset to discover that it had been removed from his person."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Master Nicholas had no use for it, I'm afraid. Sorry to upset you."

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Alexander gave a bark of laughter. "No, of course he didn't," he said in mocking tones, "Not with you controling his every wish and want."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
"What makes you say that? Master Nicholas knows his own desires." Hedge chuckles, just this side of malevolently.

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
"And recently his desires happen to lie with me. As such I've claimed him as mine and will not allow anything to happen to him," he stated and gave off a show of power, essentially cutting the spell that Hedge had woven off and reversing the effects so that Nick should be a bit less eager to go to rest.

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Nick blinks and straightens up. "What's going on here, Hedge?"

Hedge's hands go to his bells- one hand on Saraneth, Binder, which binds the listeners to its wielder's will, and the other on Kibeth, Walker, which controls its listener's movements.

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
The bells heat up under Alexander's gaze, "Do it and I will melt them without a thought."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hedge pulls his hands away before they're burned. "Who are you?"

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
"I told you my name already. I do not think you have forgotten. But if you mean what am I, that is a matter of some discussion. Let it be said that I'm very old, very powerful and very cranky when things that are mine get used in ways that I don't like."

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hedge snorts. "Are we still talking about the bauble, or the boy?"

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Both. And I notice he is no longer Master Nicholas. Do you hear this my delusional one?" Alexander gazed over at Nick, who had been silent for most of this.

[identity profile] accidental-evil.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Nick nods, frowning slightly.

Then he doubled over in pain.

[identity profile] master-troven.livejournal.com 2006-08-31 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Alexander started and let out a small curse. "I suppose now your Master wishes a few words with me," he said to Hedge.
